The Administrator's Role in Successful Mainstreaming

This seminar is designed to provide information and inspiration to school leaders as they attempt to design and deliver services to children with special needs. In these situations, the principal must play must play the crucial roles must be that of chief advocate for the child.

Numerous philosophies will be presented in order to assist the participants in clarifying their own personal educational belief system. This will be supplemented by several specific strategies designed to support and encourage the staff and parents involved in the process.

Objectives:

  • The learner will understand the three "basic realities" of school administration
  • The learner will learn the Smith/Westhead model outlining parental reactions to learning disabilities.
  • The learner will understand the tenets of multidisciplinary and transdisciplinary programming
